New Year’s Eve @ Cafe 4212

Its that time of year again, time to let go of all the year’s flaws, look back on the triumps, and start a brand new slate for 2010!  Probably the biggest party night of the year, there is a lot of pressure to find a good spot to party, party, party, but also be safe, and not spend a fortune…unless you’re Diddy.

This year we are giving back to you.  Cafe 4212 is hosting a NYE event that will fit everyones needs and won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

This party will consist of complimentary admission, parking, and a breakfast buffet starting at 2am.  There will also be a Champagne toast at Midnight to bring in the New Year right.  Myself and Dj RedSoda will be in the mix all night for your pleasure.  Check out the flyer below.

DeLorean x The Hundreds x Premium Goods

Premium Goods held a special event for the unveiling of some collaboration t-shirts from The Hundreds and DeLorean Motor Company.  Really good look, even though I got there late.  The Hundreds really pushes the envelope when it comes to product marketing, and for those that are retro minded, they always have something good in store for your viewing pleasure.

Premium Goods is probably the premier shoe and clothing shop in Houston.  They always have the newest styles and color ways of the most popular kicks for all the sneaker heads.  With one store in Brooklyn and another here in Houston, I would say they are doing pretty good.

On the left is Cameron Wynne, Head of Merchandising at DMC, but also the son of DeLorean’s current owner.  I imagine it must be really cool to be around DeLorean cars for your entire life, but Cameron has been driving one since he could remember.  Right now his DeLorean is in the shop being wrapped in black vinyl…I can’t wait to see it.  Keep up with them on Facebook for all the latest DMC news.

This DeLorean has the steering wheel on the right side.  Why you ask?  Because they are shipping it to Singapore.  DMC produces about 12 cars a year for sale.  For about 60k you can get a new DeLorean with all the newest technology, hand built.  The only other hand built car I know goes for almost half a million dollars.  I don’t know about you, but I am DMC all the way.

3rd Annual Texas Children’s Hospital Toy Drive

I was sitting back thinking to myself the other day….what is the most memorable Christmas I have ever had?  I came to the conclusion that it was the year that my mom gave me and my brothers the Jordan III’s, the ORIGINAL 1988 Jordan III’s .  And to top it off, she got us a Nintendo Entertainment System…that my step dad wouldn’t let us play on the good TV cause he thought it would destroy it, so we had to play it on the old wooden TV in the bedroom.  It was all cramped in there, and that TV didn’t have a good picture, and when my step dad was ready to sleep he kicked us out, but at least we had a NES.  So no late night playing for us.  But, I would pause my Double Dragon session and hope that when he woke up in the morning I could run in the room and that red light would still be lit up.  Most often it wouldn’t be, and I would damn his name to hell and start over (not gonna lie…I know I cried a couple times).

Anyhow, the point is that my brothers and I were extremely happy to have received those gifts from our mother.  We didn’t realize it at the time, but she worked very hard to get us what we wanted.  And I can really appreciate that now since I am older and I know what it takes to shop for gifts and still have to make the mortgage and car payment.

I know we all loved that feeling of excitement as a kid when someone handed you a present and you couldn’t wait to rip it open and see what it was.  That is what a Toy Drive is all about….giving these kids the feeling of being able to open up gifts just like we did and every other fortunate kid does on Christmas.  Come on out to Advantage BMW Midtown this Saturday, December 12th, bring a toy, eat some food, drink some fine beverages, and enjoy the feeling of doing a good deed before Christmas.  If you can’t make it, hit me up, I would be glad to take your donation.

Below is the flyer for the event and some pictures from last year….it was a really good time.  Enjoy.  See you Saturday.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Last year’s Toy Drive was held at Ferguson’s Showroom.  Its a bath, kitchen, and lighting gallery in the Houston Galleria area.  All the cutting edge styling of this place had you leaving there wishing your own home looked like the showroom.

As I mentioned, there was food…

Drinks…

And of course, tubs FULL of toys….

All of this was made possible by Dawn(left).  She is the brains of this toy drive, and many other non profit events through out Houston.

Christian Hall (center), also provided his assistance to make the night a success.

I had the pleasure of providing the sounds for the night…

If there is music…there has to be dancing…

We had an overall very good time…

Even the photographer Darin joined in on the fun.  I can’t take credit for the pictures, he took them all.  Maybe he will be there again this year.

L.A. Times

I recently took a trip out to LA to dj a party in the “Hills” and here are some pics from the weekend.  I had a great time and I met some great people.  I have to say, I have not djed a party that live in awhile…

DSCF0370

Always a treat, we stayed at The Standard in Downtown LA.  I really can’t imagine staying anywhere else, this place has it all….from partying, to good looking people, to just a really insane atmosphere that makes you feel like a rockstar.

DSCF0314

Our first stop was FatBeats on Melrose Ave.  I had to go ahead and take a pic in the infamous Dj Booth (what dj would’nt?) Man, I would love to dj in there for an event one day…so much history in that record shop.  It didn’t hurt that J Dilla’s (RIP) dj was in there playing jam after jam…real cool cat, I wish I could do that all day.

DSCF0309

Our next stop was The Hundreds, one of my favorite brands, as well as one of my favorite blogs.  Bobby and Ben Hundreds are a perfect example of a successful duo that run a dope street clothing store.  This was my first visit, of many…I hope.

DSCF0321

I can’t remember the name of this restaurant, but the Sushi and Sake was off the hook.  My boy (travel buddy and fellow dj) RedSoda introduced me to a gang of cool peeps from LA and also a couple from Houston that traveled to LA for the weekend.

If you get a chance, check out Purplestuff TV.  Its a online sketch comedy show created by my boy Brandon (he is on the top far right, ironically, wearing a purple shirt).  Just imagine The Chappelle Show meets SNL, the best of both worlds, its a good look.

DSCF0353

The main party was something out of a movie or one of these TV shows where everyone looks rich and crispy.  I had the best time djing for these people. They seemed to dance to everything I played, and most important of all….they kept my cup full. The view is unlike anything I have ever seen, or unlike any foreground I have ever djed in….a great experience.

Shout out to my boy Dj Kion for bringing the equipment, and for putting down a dope mix as well.

DSCF0348

Another view from the house…like I said, crazy scenery!

DSCF0376

Although I didn’t get to do a whole lot of sight seeing, every time I hang out on the roof top of The Standard, that just seems to give me all I need.  This is another place than I need a gig in LA.  With the cool weather, plentiful drinks, and pretty women….my job as a dj comes easy.  Its just the soundtrack to the easy life.
